Signs & Effects of Anxiety
Unlike normal anxiety, which is often tied to a specific event, the worry in Generalized Anxiety Disorder is chronic and can be about anything from work and finances to health and family. To be diagnosed with GAD, this excessive worry must be present more days than not for at least six months and be accompanied by at least three of the following physical and mental symptoms:
Restlessness or feeling on edge
Being easily fatigued
Difficulty concentrating
Irritability
Muscle tension
Sleep problems
This constant state of anxiety is often out of proportion to the actual situation and can significantly interfere with a person's daily life, affecting their relationships, work, and overall well-being.
